Billing & counter
A till that does not stop when the line does.
Most billing software is a web page with a shop's name on it. Close the tab, lose the signal, and the queue stops. This one runs on the device.
The thing most billing apps get wrong
Not the interface — the invoice number. Two counters in one shop, both offline for twenty minutes, both issuing bills. If numbers are handed out by a server, the second counter has no numbers. If they are handed out locally without care, the two counters mint the same one, and the first GST return is a mess somebody spends a weekend unpicking.
Reserved blocks
Each device holds a block of numbers issued to it in advance. Two tills cannot collide, because they were never drawing from the same pool. The block refills when there is signal, silently, long before it runs out.
Sequential where it must be
GST requires an unbroken series per book. The blocks are per device and reconciled on sync, so the series a return is filed from is unbroken even though it was written in three places at once.
Nothing asked twice
Every queued write carries an idempotency key. A till that retries a bill on a flaky connection does not create a second bill — which is the other half of offline, and the half that is usually missing.
In detail
Scan, say it, or tap
Phone camera or a ₹900 USB scanner. Voice in your own language, including quantities said the way people say them — dhai kilo, aadha packet. Or tiles, for a shop with forty items and no barcodes.
Held bills and multiple counters
Park a bill while a customer goes back for something, run three tills on one shop, and see all of them from the owner's phone.
Receipts, printed or not
Thermal print over USB or Bluetooth, A4 for a party who needs it, or no printer at all — a WhatsApp bill with a UPI link, which most customers now prefer.
Kiosk and self-order
A customer-facing screen for a QSR counter, and a per-table QR for a restaurant. Same queue, same bill.
Token display
The number board for a counter where people wait. Runs on any spare tablet or TV with a browser.
Discounts, offers and returns
Line and bill-level discounts with a cap on what a cashier may give, automatic offers, and returns that credit stock and books correctly.
Payments
Cash, UPI with a per-invoice QR that reconciles itself, cards, wallets, gift cards, store credit and split payment across more than one of them.
What this will not do
It does not run a fiscal printer, and it is not certified for jurisdictions that require one. India does not; if you are reading this from somewhere that does, this is not yet your till.
Voice billing in a loud market with a ₹6,000 phone is good, not perfect. It is faster than typing for most shops and slower than a barcode for all of them — which is why the barcode is there too.
